Get Snoring Relief Before It’s Too Late

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Does someone in your family have a snoring problem? If so, you know how trying it can be to live with a snorer. Getting a good night’s sleep is virtually impossible if you sleep in the same room as a heavy snorer, and some people snore so loudly that even moving to another room doesn’t help much. Not only does it drive you up the wall, it’s also unhealthy, for both people involved.

There are serious health risks associated with heavy snoring, but the person who has to put up with also suffers from sleep deprivation and stress, which can devastate a person’s health. It’s no joke, and the sooner you find snoring relief, the better, for all concerned.

What are the options for snoring relief? Well, the big one is surgery, where a surgeon goes in and removes some of the soft tissue at the back of the throat. It goes without saying that this should be a last resort for anyone, given the risks of even minor surgery. And this is to say nothing of the cost.

If you’ve tried everything, and nothing has worked, then certainly you shouldn’t rule out surgery. But it should never be your first or even second choice.

There are a variety of products that promise relief from snoring. One is a specially made “snore pillow” which forces you to sleep in a way that the position of your throat area is less conducive to snoring. These have worked for some folks, but they can be tough to get used to and as soon as you do not sleep on that pillow, your snoring is back.

Sprays, and nasal strips are two more snoring products that are popular. There seems to be a lot of products in this segment, and many users report that they only work for light snoring, or the effects wear off. So caveat emptor.

The best non-surgical way to treat snoring seems to be with exercises designed specifically to address that.

It’s your body causing the snoring, and if you can change your body, you can find snoring relief.

Cure Snoring -The Easy Way

Monday, October 27th, 2008

So you snore, or worse, your partner does. And you don’t know what to do about it, but you know you just have to cure that snoring.
There are tons of gimmicks and products to chose from, not to mention going under the scalpel. Ouch!

Finding a cure for you snoring can be as simple as not sleeping on your back any more. Or consuming alcohol. That is if you have a light, maybe intermittent case of snoring. But for the millions of snoring Americans (not to mention all those snoring in the rest of the world!) many need something more powerful to cure their snoring.

You cure snoring by affecting the tissues that vibrate or in some other way partially obstruct the airways as you sleep.

That is the basis for all products selling snoring cures, including the surgical option. The airways can get partially obstructed from your nasal passages, the back of your mouth and tongue, the palate and down through your throat area. Tightness in the jaw and neck and shoulders can also affect your snoring.

The problem with most devices is that they will target only one of these areas. They will also not work if not used or worn, and let’s face it, they are not all that comfortable. While some of the devices do have some effect, it can be a bit of a hit or miss to find something that works in your case.

Chronic snorer Christian Goodman, an Icelandic therapist, discovered that when he did some simple exercises to target muscles and tissues around his nose, mouth, and throat areas his snoring went away completely. For anyone with a bit of understanding of physiology that makes a lot of sense.

He discovered that with just a few minutes per day of specific snoring exercises, the tissue surrounding the airways became toned and strong enough to not vibrate and cause those sounds we know of as snoring. One of the many advantages of his best selling program is that not only is it inexpensive and easy to use, it targets the entire airway, covering all the common causes for snoring.

Snoring Device. What To Know before You Get One

Monday, October 27th, 2008

There are plenty of snoring devices available.

Let’s see….

Mouth pieces.

Nose pieces.

Pillows.

Snore Wizards.

Chin straps

Nose strips

Herbal Lozenges

Throat Sprays

And on and on……

Snoring always involves tissue constricting your airways. That’s it.

Devices attempt to somehow holding the tissue, pushing it, shrinking it etc. The problem with that is, provided you found the correct tissue that needed correction, that these devices are temporary at best. And that is IF you found the right device to treat YOUR problem.

Devises, no matter how attractive they seem, “Just put this in or on your nose and your problem is gone forever” do not have any effect on < what is causing the snoring. Meaning that IF you are lucky enough to spend money on a devise that happens to target your specific cause of snoring, (and there are many causes) it will only work when you use it. Sometimes using it means you have to sacrifice comfort which may keep you sleepless in order to “fix” your snoring.

Remember, snoring is caused by a partial obstruction of your airways. The obstruction is caused by parts of you that have either lack of tone, such as your tongue for example. Lying on your back with a tongue that lacks tone can allow the tongue to fall back into your throat, and, presto, you are snoring. The same is the case with the soft palate. When it lacks tone it can vibrate when you breathe and thus cause the passing of air to create a sound. You recognize, I’m sure, the feeling you have in your throat if you wake up from your own snoring. Or pay attention next time it happens.

The opposite is true as well that tissue that is too tight can press on the airways which can result in the same result: Snoring.

When getting a snoring device it is best to try to understand where your snoring is coming from.

Snoring Cures -Can They Really Work?

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Snoring treatments are a plenty….When there is a need there are always plenty of solutions. Especially if there is money to be made :) Nothing wrong with that, but let’s look at what’s available for the sufferer of a snorer, or the snorer him (or her) self.

First, it is important to understand what causes snoring.

Snoring is caused when the airways are partially obstructed.

No more, and no less.

Now, there are a few different reasons WHY the airways are obstructed and herein lies the problem with most available products, AND available surgeries.

Most snoring treatments will focus on ONE possible cause, out of many, and make a product to correct that. Not only may what you buy something to correct something you do not have, it will only correct it as long as you either wear it, put it into your mouth, *gag* or your nose.

Then we have surgery in the hopes to cure snoring. We have to admit to being very biased against surgery. Not only is it expensive, the results are unpredictable and may come with a high price, such as problems swallowing, changes to your voice, and chronically dry mouth, just to mention a few. No small matters…

But let’s get back to the cause.

Snoring is caused when the airways are partially obstructed.

The obstruction can be in a variety of places. The obstruction always involves soft tissues such as muscles, tongue etc. Sometimes the obstruction is due to swelling of the tissues in the case of allergies.

The truth is when the tissues or muscles surrounding the airways are well toned, the airways will be open as you sleep, and you will not snore. That’s right.

Most snoring treatments introduce artificial and uncomfortable devices to keep your body, or body parts, in a position to discourage snoring. That is a band aid at best, and frequently ineffective. Not only do they use only when used or worn, if they do not target your specific cause for your snoring problem, they are utterly ineffective.

Correcting the lack of tone in the tissues surrounding the airways is not only very effective and easy, the exercises target most causes of snoring, making it not only the most non-invasive and comfortable snoring treatment, but one of the least expensive as well.

Imagine, you could do these exercises and stop snoring, or do a snoring surgery where you risk future changes in your voice and swallowing problems.

Snoring Surgery -Friend or Foe?

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Anyone afflicted with a snoring problem, or anyone who’s partner snores can vouch for the sense of desperation to make the snoring go away.

Of the variety of effective options available on the market today, including the very effective Snore Exercise Procedure, surgery should probably be the last resort, used only when all other options have failed.

Let’s look at some of the pros and cons.

While surgery can eliminate suffering in untold humans, surgery to end snoring can be not only expensive but also not very effective.

Snoring Surgeries Performed

CAPSO (Cautery guided Palatal Stiffening Operation)

This surgery will burn your palate to make it stiff in order to not vibrate. It also removes the tissue around the uvula.

  • This operation is not only expensive but it is:
  • Success rate is unpredictable..
  • Not only is it in an experimental stage, it also tends to cause:
  • Post operative pain and discomfort.

LAUP (Laser Assisted UvuloPlasty)
This surgery removes your uvula and other tissue that may or may not, be obstructive.
Some of the cons here are:

  • Dry mouth,
  • Changes to your voice (!!)
  • Pain in ears.
  • This surgery can mask deeper problems or lead to new complications.
  • The success rate is unpredictable.

UPPP (Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty)
This surgery attempts to expand you airways. As the name implies, your uvula, palate, and pharynx are all the target for this surgery.
Some of the cons:

  • This procedure have higher than normal risks for hemorrhaging, and there is the post op. infection risk.
  • This surgery carries the risk of speech defects. (!!)
  • and swallowing problems.
  • It is also expensive,
  • and if your problem is sleep apnea it will not help.

Before using such drastic and irreversible measures such as surgery to attempt to cure your snoring, much research should be done. Especially when there are low cost, safe and effective snore exercises with an exceedingly high cure rate.

How to Stop Snoring -Is It Even Possible?

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Stopping the snores from disrupting the quiet of the night, and even causing disruptions in ones marriage can be top priority for a snorer. And it should be. Not only is snoring annoying, sometimes downright irritating, it has effects in many areas. Some who snore have to sleep alone in order to not cause sleep deprivation in their partner. That can have less than positive effects for ones relationship.

The market place is full of all sorts of devices and gadgets to help people to stop snoring. Look at the plethora of mouth pieces supposedly designed to keep your mouth in the right position. (Who could even sleep with one of those things in the mouth?)

But do they work?
Yes and no. Some of them have some effect as long as they are worn. Don’t use the device, and your are snoring again. The problem with devices are that they do not address the cause of the snoring. There are a number of common reasons for people to snore, and IF the device you bought targets the reason you snore, you can get temporary help.

The cause for sounds to be created as you breathe is when the air gets partially obstructed. Period.

That obstruction can have a number of causes but always involve tissue or muscles that are either too tight, as is common with the jaw, or to loose, as is common with the tongue, soft palate or throat.

The Case Of The Flopping Palate

When you are deeply at sleep and your muscles are deeply relaxed, muscles or tissue that lack tone can cause your tongue to fall back into the throat or your soft palate to “flop around in the wind”.

The real solution to snoring is to not have tissue that is too loose or too tight, thus allowing the air to pass freely and soundlessly. Like we exercise other parts of our body to keep them toned and supple, we can exercise the tissue along our entire airways to free up our breathing and stop snoring. Voice teachers know this.
And while exercising the muscles in your throat and tongue may seem far fetched it is not far fetched for singers and singing instructors.

Many of us groan when we hear the word exercise :) The good news is that these exercises are not only easy to do, but you do not even need to join a gym! Nor do you need to spend more than a few short minutes a day. A few simple exercises for a few weeks and you may be snore free. I think that beats some gadget in your mouth for the rest of your life.

Snoring Treatment -Easy And Effective!

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

Do you know that about 23% of couples have serious issues with snoring? Finding an effective snoring treatment is usually high in the list of priorities! The biggest problem is not how irritating it can be to be woken continously by someone snoring, or to get an elbow in the midriff from a fed up spouse, the major problem is the effects of the sleep deprivation that results from being or sleeping with a snorer.

Sleep deprivation causes not only psychological and mental effects, such as irritability, poor concentration and focus just to mention a few, science has proven that our bodies age much faster, and tests done after sleep deprivation showed altered hormone production affecting our metabolism, including signs of pre diabetes that reversed after adequate sleep.

In order to be a smart shopper and find effective help for your, or your spouses, snoring it is important to understand what the CAUSES of snoring are.

Snoring occurs when the airways are partially blocked, or when the tissue around the airway is loose and untoned, allowing the tissue to vibrate. Think of a violin string. It vibrates, and it sounds. So it is in your throat.

Now, the blockages/vibrations/loose tissue can be from your tongue, your palate, muslces around your jaw, partial obstructions in your nose etc. Not addressing where the problem stems from will not yield results, which is why most snoring devices and remedies have only a small percentage of success.

What do we do when our muscles are flabby and lacking tone?

We Exercise them!

And that is exactly what Icelandic therapist Christian Goodman discovered. When he exercised the muscles around the airways, his chronic snoring went away.

We can train out throat and tongue as easily as any other body part. Easier, in fact. The exercises take only minutes per day.

Makes sense? Yes, ofcourse it does. When the tongue is no longer so slack that it enters your throat when you sleep, you won’t snore. Exercising the throat in just the right way will strengthen it, and the soft palate not allowing the soft palate to flop around, obstructing the air flow as you lay on your back.

Ready to to spend a few minutes per day to rectify the underlying cause of your snoring? Only you can decide, but you could be snore-free within a few weeks.

Snoring Help: Don’t Put It Off

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Snoring is the source of many a joke, but it’s really no laughing matter. It can kill romance, force spouses to sleep in separate rooms, and in extreme cases it can even destroy marriages, On top of these problems, heavy snorers aren’t really getting a good night’s sleep. This can have deleterious effects in several areas of a person’s life, such as their overall health, and their productivity at work. So all jokes aside, snoring is something you’ll want to deal with it if you or a loved one is suffering from it. Here are some snoring help ideas to consider.

One way to lessen the frequency of snoring is to sleep on your side. This can be a difficult transition for most people to make, as everyone has a favorite sleeping position, and it can be very hard to switch to a new one. But sleeping on your back is a one of the contributing causes of snoring, and if that’s how you sleep, you should really try to start sleeping on your side. (Sleeping on your stomach is not recommended; it can cause back problems.)

If you’re overweight, you’re much more likely to snore, and much more likely to be a heavy snorer (no pun intended). The fat tissue in the area of your neck and throat are one of the main causes of your snoring. Losing weight can be difficult, but doing so can reduce or eliminate your snoring problem. And with the added health benefits that come with dropping a few pounds, it’s even more of a good idea. Even losing 15-20 pounds can make a big difference in your snoring.

Another snoring help tip is to cut way back on the use of alcohol and certain prescription drugs, such as sedatives. It may seem strange that drugs you take to help you sleep can cause snoring, but anything that suppresses your bodies automatic breathing system will make snoring more likely, and sedative and alcohol both have this effect.

Try some of these suggestions to help with your snoring. They work for a lot of people, and they may work for you. If not, you should seek out additional resources for natural snoring help before you consider radical measures such as surgery.

Snoring Causes -These Are The Most Common

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Snoring can have a number of different causes.
The cause of the sound itself is when air passes through tissue that vibrates. That can be the tongues or other tissue in the throat. Those who are overweight have an increased chance to be a snorer due to more loose tissue in the throat and behind the nasal passages.

Here are some common causes for snoring that you can affect:

Change your sleeping posture. Many who snore do so only when laying on their back. Sleeping on the side or belly can be all that is needed to stop snoring!

Use a specially designed exercise program to end your snoring! Yes, toning the tissues around the airway have dramatic effects on snoring

Lose weight. Being overweight dramatically increases your odds of snoring. Losing weight is not so easy as most of us know, much easier is to do simple snoring exercises to remove the snoring.

Stop smoking. Smoking creates nasal congestion which will increase snoring.

Limit alcohol consumption. Alcohol is a relaxant, allowing muscles and tissues in throat and tongue to go soft and to vibrate. The result is a dramatic increase in decibel.

Snoring Exercises. What Are They And Do They Work?

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Doing exercises to stop snoring may not make sense unless one understands that snoring happens when tissue in or around the airways vibrate as the air passes through. The vibration can be due to tissue being to loose, or the passage being narrowed by tissue that is to tight.

Exercising the tissue then can make even the most serious snorers into a quiet sleeper.

The leading authority on snoring exercises is Christian Goodman who after many years of serious snoring and many unsuccessful attempts at at a cure, had the inspiration to develop an exercise program to firm and tone and correct the underlying causes of snoring. -loose tissue, untoned tissue or tissue that is too tight.

The inspiration came from his wife who has spent most of her life teaching people how to tone the muscles in and around the airways but in a different way and for a different reason, -she teaches people how to sing.

Christian’s easy to use program has become a bestseller -and for a good reason. it is easy and pleasant to use, very effective, and Christian offers a money back guarantee. With a satisfaction rate of 97% based on returns, Christians program is an intelligent choice.

About The Snoring Exercises

You’ll actually strengthen and open up the whole breathing passage, from your throat up to the nasal opening.

If you touch your voice box with your left hand (the big chunk, or Adam’s apple, on the front of your throat) and touch your forehead with your right hand the area between your hands is the area causing the snoring, AND it is the area you’re going to be training and removing any block from.

By doing simple and pleasant exercises for your throat your soft palate, including the entire area from below your voice box all the way up into your nose and everything in-between will be strengthened, toned and refreshed.

These are light, easy, simple exercises that get your breathing passage in top shape. Spending as little as 3 minutes per day can be enough for many.

  • Training the tongue will strengthen it and by doing that, prevent it from dropping into your throat when you sleep -a very common cause for snoring.
  • Loosening the Jaw, with the jaw exercises will remove any tension from it. You’ll be very pleasantly surprised at the increased ease of breathing after this exercise alone!
  • The throat exercises will strengthen the throat and lift the soft palate, preventing it from vibrate and cause snoring.

Exercising the loose or too tight muscle and tissues causing snoring just makes plain sense.
