Snoring Cures -Can They Really Work?
Sunday, October 26th, 2008Snoring treatments are a plenty….When there is a need there are always plenty of solutions. Especially if there is money to be made
Nothing wrong with that, but let’s look at what’s available for the sufferer of a snorer, or the snorer him (or her) self.
First, it is important to understand what causes snoring.
Snoring is caused when the airways are partially obstructed.
No more, and no less.
Now, there are a few different reasons WHY the airways are obstructed and herein lies the problem with most available products, AND available surgeries.
Most snoring treatments will focus on ONE possible cause, out of many, and make a product to correct that. Not only may what you buy something to correct something you do not have, it will only correct it as long as you either wear it, put it into your mouth, *gag* or your nose.
Then we have surgery in the hopes to cure snoring. We have to admit to being very biased against surgery. Not only is it expensive, the results are unpredictable and may come with a high price, such as problems swallowing, changes to your voice, and chronically dry mouth, just to mention a few. No small matters…
But let’s get back to the cause.
Snoring is caused when the airways are partially obstructed.
The obstruction can be in a variety of places. The obstruction always involves soft tissues such as muscles, tongue etc. Sometimes the obstruction is due to swelling of the tissues in the case of allergies.
The truth is when the tissues or muscles surrounding the airways are well toned, the airways will be open as you sleep, and you will not snore. That’s right.
Most snoring treatments introduce artificial and uncomfortable devices to keep your body, or body parts, in a position to discourage snoring. That is a band aid at best, and frequently ineffective. Not only do they use only when used or worn, if they do not target your specific cause for your snoring problem, they are utterly ineffective.
Correcting the lack of tone in the tissues surrounding the airways is not only very effective and easy, the exercises target most causes of snoring, making it not only the most non-invasive and comfortable snoring treatment, but one of the least expensive as well.
Imagine, you could do these exercises and stop snoring, or do a snoring surgery where you risk future changes in your voice and swallowing problems.
